Fire detection and supression

Within the Data Centre there are large fuel loads, very high electrical currents, and lots of heat produced. Following the 4 rules of Firestopping; Prevention, Compartmentation, Detection and Supression can dramatically reduce the risk of a fire, and the potential losses in life, data and property that can result.

At Datatel, we design and build all of Data Centre's with at least a 2 hour fire rating that exceeds Australian standards, which limits the spread of fire into the Data Centre to protect the data contained inside. This is coupled with low combustion product selection to reduce acceleration of fire and the toxic smoke it produces.

All of the major international Data Centre standards either recommend or require installation of an Aspriated Smoke Detection system within the Computer room and it's ceiling and floor voids. These are precision detection devices that are design to detect the presence of chemicals associated with combustion prior to traditional smoke detectors.

The early detection of smoke allows for a properly design and installed Gaseous supression system to be limit the spread of any fire and keep damage and data loss to a minimum.
